Why Excel Harbor exists
Most free Excel templates online look fine in a screenshot and fall apart the moment you use them: broken formulas, a blank tab labelled "Sheet1", numbers that do not add up, and a layout you end up rebuilding anyway.
So you lose half an afternoon fixing a file that was supposed to save you time.
Excel Harbor does the opposite: every template is built from scratch, opened, recalculated and checked before it goes live. Working formulas, clean formatting and realistic sample data. Download it, drop in your own numbers, and get on with your day.
How we work
Built to be used, not admired
Clear column headers, sensible number formats and sample rows that show how the sheet is meant to work. Everything is laid out so you can start entering your own data right away.
Tested before it goes live
Every file is opened and checked before publishing: do the formulas work, do the totals add up, does it look right on screen and on paper? We would rather ship fewer templates that work than a hundred that are half finished.
Free, with no asterisk
No fine print. The file you download is the whole file — every tab, formula and function included. Ads on the site pay the bills, not your data.
You decide what comes next
When more people ask for the same template, it moves to the top of the list. The best ideas come from readers with a concrete problem to solve.
Who uses the templates?
Our templates are downloaded by all sorts of people — from freelancers to clubs and teams inside larger organisations. Most often:
- Freelancers and the self-employed — invoices, mileage logs, expense trackers and budgets, without having to buy full accounting software
- Small businesses — rosters, inventory, cash-flow forecasts and hours worked, ready to share with your accountant
- Clubs and volunteers — member lists, subscription overviews, event budgets and receipt logs
- Households — personal budgets, savings goals, loan overviews and planning everything from a wedding to a house move
What they have in common: they would rather not spend an evening setting up a spreadsheet from scratch. We already did that part.
Missing a template?
Tell us what you are looking for, or report a mistake in a file. Specific requests from readers are the first thing we look at when planning new templates.
